History
Formed in 1836 from Monroe County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Marshall County was created from Monroe County in 1836 and named after John Marshall. The county gained territory from Lafayette County in 1846, 1850, and 1854, and from De Soto County in 1873, while losing land to the creation of Benton County in 1870 and Tate County in 1873.
