History

Formed in 1825 from Fulton County, Pike County, Mercer County and Warren County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Schuyler County was created from Fulton, Pike, and parts of other territories, with Mercer and Warren initially attached for county purposes. The county was named after Philip Schuyler. Mercer and Warren were detached and attached to Peoria in 1826, and the newly created McDonough County was organized and detached in 1830.
