An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
McLean County was created in 1830 from Tazewell County and named after John McLean. The county lost territory to the creation of Livingston County in 1837, De Witt County in 1839, and Woodford County in 1841, and exchanged territory with Woodford County in 1843.
