History
Founded in 1877
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Sioux County was created from Non-County Area 1 in 1877, though it was not fully organized at that time. Between 1883 and 1885, the county lost territory to the creation of Cherry, Dawes, and Sheridan counties. Sioux County was finally fully organized in 1886.
