History

Formed in 1858 from Buffalo County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Hall County was created by Nebraska Territory on November 4, 1858, from Buffalo County and non-county area. The county was named after Augustus Hall. In 1871, Hall exchanged territory with Adams County and lost land to the creation of Howard County.
