History
Founded in 1879
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Nance County was created from the Pawnee Indian Reservation, which had been sold on October 8, 1874; the act creating the county passed on February 13, 1879, and took effect on June 1, 1879. On March 1, 1881, Nance County gained all of Non-County Area 5, which was then eliminated.
