History
Founded in 1854
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Cass County was created by proclamation of the acting governor of Nebraska Territory from non-county area on November 23, 1854. In March 1855, Cass lost land to the creation of Greene (now Seward), Lancaster, Otoe, and York counties. Between 1865 and 1867, Saunders County was briefly attached to Cass for judicial, election and revenue purposes, then detached.
