History
Founded in 1854
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Douglas County was created by proclamation of the acting governor of Nebraska Territory from non-county area on November 23, 1854. Between 1855 and 1857, it gained land from Washington and Dodge counties, and lost land to the creation of Sarpy County.
