History

Formed in 1843 from Leon County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Wakulla was created by Florida Territory from Leon County on March 11, 1843. The county's boundaries shifted multiple times over the following decades, including gains from and losses to Leon and Franklin counties, with the most recent adjustment in 1986 when the boundary with Franklin County moved to the middle of the Ochlockonee River and Bay.
