History

Formed in 1854 from Orange County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Volusia County was created from Orange County in 1854. Over time, the county lost territory to St. Johns County in 1875, Brevard County in 1879, and the creation of Flagler County in 1917, though it gained a small area back from St. Johns County in 1899.
