History
Formed in 1838 from Franklin County, Jackson County and Washington County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Calhoun County was created by the Florida Territory from Franklin, Jackson, and Washington counties. The county was named after John C. Calhoun. Over its history, Calhoun County exchanged land with neighboring counties multiple times and lost territory to the creation of Bay County in 1913 and Gulf County in 1925.
