History
Formed in 1864 from Plumas County and Shasta County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Lassen County was created from Plumas and Shasta on April 1, 1864. It gained territory from Plumas in 1873 and 1901, and gained additional territory from Shasta in 1899. A small area was lost to Sierra County in 1874 when the boundary was set on public land survey lines.
