History
Formed in 1782 from Bedford County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Campbell County was created from Bedford County in 1782. It lost territory to the creation of Appomattox County in 1845 and again in 1848, and subsequently lost multiple areas to Lynchburg as it expanded as an independent city.
