History

Formed in 1800 from Allegheny County, Lycoming County and Crawford County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Warren County was created from Allegheny and Lycoming counties on March 12, 1800, but remained incompletely organized and attached to Crawford County. On April 1, 1805, Warren was detached from Crawford and attached to Venango County, though it maintained an indirect connection to Crawford through Venango until September 1, 1805. Warren County became fully organized and independent on October 1, 1819, when it was detached from Venango County. In 1845, Warren County gained territory from McKean County.
