History
Formed in 1787 from Bedford County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Huntingdon County was created from Bedford County on September 20, 1787, and named after Huntingdonshire. The county lost territory to the creation of Mifflin, Centre, Cambria, Clearfield, and Blair counties between 1792 and 1846, and briefly regained and then lost land to Mifflin County in 1812 and 1834.
