History

Formed in 1810 from Luzerne County and Lycoming County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Originally created as Ontario from Luzerne and Lycoming Counties in 1810, it was renamed Bradford in 1812 and fully organized that same year. The county was named after William Bradford.
