History
Formed in 1750 from Lancaster County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Cumberland County was created in 1750 from Lancaster County and Non-County Area. The county lost land repeatedly over the following decades as new counties were created from it: Berks in 1752, Bedford in 1771, Northumberland in 1772, Franklin in 1784, Mifflin in 1789, Perry in 1820, and Franklin again in 1835.
