History
Formed in 1851 from Brown County and Winnebago County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
When created in 1851, Waupaca County was not fully organized and was attached to Winnebago County for judicial purposes. The county was fully organized and detached from Winnebago in 1853, but then lost territory to the creation of Shawano County that same year. Waupaca County exchanged territory with Shawano County several times between 1859 and 1860.
