History
Formed in 1836 from Milwaukee County and Racine County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Walworth County was created by Wisconsin Territory from Milwaukee and Racine counties but was not fully organized at first, so it was attached to Racine County for judicial purposes. The county was fully organized and detached from Racine in 1839, and became a county in the state of Wisconsin in 1848. Walworth County was named after Reuben H. Walworth.
