History
Formed in 1764 from Bladen County and New Hanover County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Brunswick County was created from Bladen and New Hanover counties and named after Brunswick-Lüneburg. Over the following decades, Brunswick exchanged land with neighboring counties, particularly with Bladen and New Hanover, and lost territory to the creation of Columbus County in 1808.
