History
Formed in 1870 from Las Animas County and Pueblo County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Bent County was created by Colorado Territory from Las Animas and Pueblo counties. In 1874, it gained all of the extinct Greenwood County. Between 1889 and April 1889, Bent County lost territory to the creation of Cheyenne, Otero, Kiowa, Lincoln, and Prowers counties.
