History
Formed in 1847 from Cabell County, Kanawha County and Logan County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Boone County was created by Virginia on March 11, 1847, from parts of Cabell, Kanawha, and Logan counties. When West Virginia separated from Virginia on June 20, 1863, Boone County became part of the new state. The county experienced boundary adjustments involving Lincoln County between 1867 and 1868.
