History
Founded in 1807
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
ST. Martin Parish was created in 1811 within Attakapas County from Attakapas Parish, which was eliminated. Between 1813 and 1868, the parish lost territory to St. Mary, Lafayette, and Iberia, with the 1868 creation of Iberia resulting in its two-part configuration.
