History

Formed in 1832 from St. Helena Parish

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Livingston Parish was created on 30 March 1832 from St. Helena Parish, though its creation was initially authorized on 10 February 1832. In 1850, Livingston gained territory from Ascension Parish, and in 1869, it lost territory to the creation of Tangipahoa Parish. In 1979, Livingston gained territory when boundaries through Lake Maurepas were defined.
