History

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Jackson Parish was created from Claiborne, Ouachita, and Union parishes. In 1846, it gained territory from Claiborne and Ouachita while exchanging land with Union. Jackson lost land to the creation of Lincoln Parish in 1873, then regained territory from Lincoln in 1877.
