History
Founded in 1851
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Millard County was created on October 4, 1851, by Utah Territory from non-county area in the Pavant Valley. Beginning in 1854, Millard County underwent significant boundary changes: it lost territory to the creation of Carson County, then later to Humboldt County and St. Mary's County in 1861, and to Nevada Territory in 1862, while also gaining some land from St. Mary's and Juab counties.
