History
Formed in 1850 from Great Salt Lake County, Salt Lake County and Weber County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Davis County was created by the state of Deseret from Salt Lake, Weber, and Great Salt Lake counties. In 1854, it gained territory from Green River County, and in 1855, it gained from Weber while losing land to Salt Lake. In 1862, Davis lost territory to Salt Lake and Summit counties and to the newly created Morgan County. When Utah became a state in 1896, Davis became a county in the state of Utah.
