History
Formed in 1866 from Nye. County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Lincoln County was created from Nye County on February 26, 1866, and named after Abraham Lincoln. In May 1866, Lincoln gained territory from Iron and Washington counties in Utah and from Mohave and Pah-Ute in Arizona Territory when Nevada acquired these lands from Arizona and Utah territories. In 1909, Lincoln lost land to the creation of Clark County.
