History
Formed in 1880 from Sanpete County, Sevier County and Piute County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Emery County was formed by Utah Territory on February 12, 1880, from Sanpete, Sevier, and Piute Counties, gaining additional area from those same counties five days later. In 1890, it lost territory to the creation of Grand County and to Sanpete County, and in 1894 it lost more territory to the creation of Carbon County. Emery became a county in the state of Utah on January 4, 1896, and in 2003 it gained an area in the city of Green River from Grand County.
