History
Formed in 1919 from Humboldt County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Pershing County was created from Humboldt County on March 18, 1919, and named after John J. Pershing. In 1924, Pershing exchanged territory with Washoe County when Washoe's board unilaterally changed its eastern boundary to run on public land survey lines, a change that Humboldt, Pershing, and Nevada acquiesced to.
