History
Formed in 1873 from Lander County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Eureka County was created on 20 March 1873 from Lander County through an act passed on 1 March 1873. In 1877 it gained territory from Elko County; an earlier attempt to make this change in 1875 had been ruled unconstitutional by the Nevada Supreme Court. In 1881 Eureka County gained additional territory from White Pine County.
