History
Formed in 1887 from Baker County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Malheur County was created from Baker County on April 1, 1887. The county was named after the Malheur River. In 1927, Malheur County lost territory to Harney County when the boundary was redefined to run along range lines. In 1931, Malheur County exchanged territory with Baker County.
