History
Formed in 1843 from Tuality County, Twality County, Tualitz County and Falatine County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Tuality District was created as one of four original Oregon counties on July 5, 1843, and included parts of present-day Oregon, Washington, and Canada. The district was renamed Tuality County on December 22, 1845, and then renamed Washington on September 3, 1849, in honor of George Washington. Washington became an official Oregon county when the state was admitted to the Union on February 14, 1859.
