History

Formed in 1903 from Valencia County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Guadalupe County was created in 1903 from Valencia County and the original Guadalupe County, which was eliminated. It was renamed from Leonard Wood to Guadalupe in 1905. The county was named after Our Lady of Guadalupe. In 1917, Guadalupe County lost territory to the creation of De Baca County.
