History
Formed in 1906 from Missoula County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Sanders County was created from Missoula County on March 1, 1906, following an act passed on February 7, 1905, and was named after Wilbur F. Sanders. The county exchanged boundary land with Missoula County in 1911 and with Flathead County in 1913 when boundaries were adjusted to run on federal land survey lines, then gained territory from Lincoln County in 1913.
