History
Formed in 1914 from Dawson County, Fallon County and Richland County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Wibaux County was created by petition and election from Dawson and Fallon counties, though it initially overlapped territory claimed by Richland County. The boundary dispute with Richland County was settled on February 19, 1915, and the county gained small areas from Dawson and Prairie counties in March 1917 when boundaries were adjusted to run on federal land survey lines.
