History
Formed in 1913 from Custer County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Fallon County was created by petition and election from Custer County. In its early years, the county lost territory to the creation of Wibaux County in 1914, Prairie County in 1915, and Carter County in 1917, and then exchanged territory with Wibaux County in 1919.
