History
Formed in 1893 from Choteau County, Chouteau County and Missoula County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Teton County was created on 1 March 1893 from Choteau (now Chouteau) and Missoula counties. The county is named after the Teton Range. Teton lost territory to the creation of Toole County in 1914, and to the creation of Glacier and Pondera counties in 1919, but gained territory from Chouteau County in 1921.
