History
Formed in 1907 from Day County and Woodward County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Ellis County was created from parts of the former Day County and Woodward County, with Day County eliminated at that time. The county was named after Albert H. Ellis. In May 1908, Ellis County gained all of the Non-County Area, which was then eliminated.
