History

Founded in 1889

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

County No. 4, which became Canadian, was created in Oklahoma Territory by proclamation of the Territorial Governor on May 2, 1890. Canadian gained and lost territory through boundary adjustments with Kingfisher County and through the elimination of County I in 1901. Canadian became a county in the state of Oklahoma on November 16, 1907.
