History
Formed in 1781 from Cumberland County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Windham County was created from Cumberland County on February 16, 1781, with Cumberland then eliminated. Shortly after its creation, Windham lost part of a gore east of the town of Bromley to Bennington County in 1781, then gained the town of Stratton from Bennington County in 1787.
