History

Formed in 1835 from Chittenden County, Franklin County, Orleans County and Washington County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

Lamoille County was created from parts of Chittenden, Franklin, Orleans, and Washington counties but was not initially fully organized. The county was fully organized and detached from those counties in December 1836, after which small boundary changes adjusted its borders with neighboring counties over the following decades.
