History
Formed in 1792 from Orange County and Orleans County
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Caledonia was created from Orange and Orleans counties in 1792 but was not fully organized at first, with administrative functions handled by Orange County. Over the following years, Caledonia was fully organized in 1796, received and then gave up territory to newly created counties including Essex, Washington, and Orleans as those counties were organized and became independent.
