History

Formed in 1731 from Hampshire County, Middlesex County and Suffolk County

An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.

When Worcester County was created in 1731, it initially included the town of Woodstock in Connecticut, but lost that area to Connecticut in 1749. Between 1732 and 1767, Worcester County's boundaries were adjusted through the creation of new towns and exchanges with neighboring Hampshire and Middlesex counties.
