History
Founded in 1666
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
New London County gained and lost territory over nearly two centuries through boundary adjustments with neighboring counties including Hartford, Windham, and Middlesex. In 1726, part of the county was lost to the creation of Windham County, and in 1785, another portion was lost to the creation of Middlesex County.
