History
Founded in 1873
An old deed may name a county that no longer exists, or a boundary that has since moved.
Bottineau County was created in 1873 and gained territory from Wynn in 1887, while losing territory to the creation of Pierce and McHenry counties. On November 2, 1889, Bottineau became a county in the state of North Dakota. In 1892, the county gained additional territory from Renville County.
